A mum has been left livid after her sister chose the same baby name as her — not once, but twice.
The woman turned to online mummy platform Mumsnet to vent her frustrations over her sister’s “unfair” actions.
“I have two sons: Hayden and Oliver,” she starts.
“Dsis (dear sister) had a daughter after I had Hayden and named her Hayden. I didn’t care too much as she was a girl and mine was a boy. It also didn’t matter that much.”
While one might praise this woman for her understanding at this point, things then take a turn for the worse.
“My Oliver is two months and she is in the third trimester of her pregnancy and has announced he’s an Oliver,” she says.
“Different middle names but still! AIBU (am I being unreasonable) to think this is a bit unfair?”
The woman’s post has been promptly met with sympathy from other users, many reassuring her she is not being unreasonable.
“She’s either really lacking in imagination or not quite right,” one user writes.
“Your sister is a f—— fruit cake and I think you need to insist she chooses a different name,” another comments.
The woman later adds her sister has accused her of stealing the names in the first place, which she emphatically denies.
“We get on and everything. It’s a pretty good relationship. She says I was fortunate enough to fall pregnant first and took her name. I had no idea if she was thinking of those names or not.”
The woman also talks about the reaction from other family members, saying her mum thinks it’s “nice” and her dad thinks it’s “a bit strange”.
“Other family laugh, not sure what their honest opinions are. I’m actually a bit sad and I suppose that’s why I said I don’t think it’s fair.”
